Filament Winding Lampshade
This lampshade project is a robotic filament winding experiment for my master's thesis in Taiwan. The primary material is carbon fiber thread. And it is fixed on the copper plate with the bulb base.

The first sample is tested on the simple cylinder shape, the grey pipe. And it is fixed on the pneumatic clamp. Additionally, the cotton thread is used for the initial winding test and then changed to carbon fiber thread as the final sample instead.

Anchor Points

Anchor Points
The initial tests are simple geometries which are cylinder and ellipse as the basic molds with 20 nails. The nails as the anchor points for the fiber winding spots are distributed equally on the top and bottom of the mold. The next winding variation is the combination of different amounts between the top and bottom of anchor points.
All the motion's angles are calculated parametrically to generate the tragedy for the robot's path.
